Ammopi settlement is located south east of Karpathos 6 kilometers from Karpathos Town and 13 kilometers from Arkasa, just in the middle of the road from Karpathos Town to Karpathos airport. Today Ammopi is very well organized tourist destination, offering all types of accommodation, restaurants, taverns and a complex of five beaches.
Pera Ammos beach or megali ammopi meaning “big ammopi”, is the main beach of Ammopi situated in the middle, overlooked by the little chapel of Agioi Apostoli . This long stretch of golden sand and shallow waters surrounded by Taverns, cafes and mini markets make this beach a major attraction.
Votsalakia beach is located also within the Ammopi area, 100 meters opposite of Pera Ammos beach. This is a pebble beach within a small bay offering you a more relaxing and quite stay, very suitable for families.
Ammopi beach or Mikri Ammopi meaning “small Ammopi”, continuing on the same coastline after the beaches of Pera Ammos and Votsalakia ,you will reach this beach the native original beach of Ammopi. Again a golden sand beach and crystal clear waters. Very popular for its large white rock “Asprouas” at the edge of the beach, the rock is a perfect spot for diving.
Kastelia Beach is beautiful little pebble beach surrounded by the high cliffs and a outstanding view of the nature. Reaching this beach you would have to turn left about 2 kilometers before coming to the major Ammopi area.
Fokias beach received its name after the seals that once used to inhabit the area in the surrounding caves. A small very quite pebble beach just before reaching Fokias beach.
All beaches in the Ammopi area offer umbrellas, sun beds, restaurants, mini markets and all types of accommodation.
